KUZUSHI

From the right natural posture advance your left foot and push Uke with both hands, causing him to step back on his right foot.

Now take a long step backwards with your left foot and break Uke’s balance to his right front corner (migi mae sumi) by lifting and pulling with your hands. The pull should be steady up to the point at which Uke places his right foot on the mat. At that moment, the pull should be along the level of the mat (at shoulder level) until your left foot makes contact with his right foot.

TSUKURI

Uke is forced to advance his right leg in order to maintain his balance. Instantly place the sole of your left foot against the lower part of his right leg, a little above his ankle as it lands on the mat. At the same time, twist your body to your left and lean backwards pulling Uke hard with your left hand while lifting/pushing with your right hand.

The motion of your hands is that of turning a large wheel to the left. At this point all of Uke’s weight should be on his right tiptoes with his balance completely broken towards his right front corner.

Note: The attacking leg should be kept straight but not locked at the knee. Your left foot should be turned inward so that the blade of the foot (the small toe side of the foot) is down towards to mat. This allows the bottom of the foot, with toes bent to 'cup' Uke's leg.

KAKE

Uke will fall in a large circle, landing on his back in front of you.  This will be about where you started your technique or a little behind.
