KUZUSHI |
|
| |
As Uke attacks with Ko Uchi Gari against or right
foot, off balance Uke directly to your left (Uke’s back when entered in
the throw) by driving Uke's right elbow forward with your left hand
against his sleeve and pulling his left lapel backward toward your left
should with your right hand. The moment to begin your kuzushi is when
Uke has lifted the attacking leg (right leg) from the mat and is moving
it in to reap your right leg. |

TSUKURI |

Since this is a counter throw, there is little you
need to do to initiate this action, but respond appropriately, and Uke
will fall easily for you.
As Uke enters into a position to reap your right foot away, lift it up
and outward so that it is high enough to clear Uke’s attacking leg. As
Uke reaps through where your leg used to be, continue to off balance
toward your left, which is now directly towards Uke’s rear. Since Uke’s
right leg is now up in the air and the left leg is bent and supporting
all of the weight, there is little you have to do to complete the throw.
At this point, continue to turn toward your left and move your hands as
in your Kuzushi. |

KAKE |

To execute the throw, continue to allow Uke to drive
and turn counter clockwise. Your left hand should continue to push Uke’s
sleeve across your body while your right hand should now be focused on
driving Uke’s lapel towards the mat. The combined turning action should
cause Uke to flatten out and land on the mat at your feet. During this
final stage, pivot your body towards the left on your left foot so that
when Uke lands, you are facing to face. You should have completed
approximately a ¼ turn to the left during this technique and used only
your hands to execute the throw. |
